We know that holidays can get busy, so we don't want to miss the opportunity to have the pleasure of your company for our Fourth Annual Twelfth Night Dinner!  As in the past, we will be enjoying the delicious food of the historic Hanover Tavern.  We'll begin our gathering at 5:30PM with period games and entertainments and then proceed to dinner afterwards.

More details will be forthcoming!  We look forward to seeing you there!

Were you unable to get your registration for the Early 19th Century Picnic on September 10 in by the August 15 deadline?  After speaking with the good folks at James Monroe's Highland, we're pleased to announce that we can offer a limited number of additional spaces on the house tour at our reduced rate!  These spaces ($5/person regardless of membership status) will remain open until they are filled.

Even if you don't get a spot on the tour, you will still be able to join us for the picnic if you register!  Registration for those wishing to attend the picnic will remain open until September 9.

We look forward to seeing you in Charlottesville!

Don't miss out on this year's fall picnic to be held on September 10 at James Monroe's Highland in Charlottesville, VA!  Registration for this event ends on August 15.  Only those who are registered will be included in our special tour of the house which we are able to offer FREE to RSV members and at a rate of only $5/person for non-members.  Others who join us but do not register by the August 15 deadline will be required to pay the regular admission price to Highland.

The picnic will be conducted much the same as our picnics in the past have been: attendees are asked to bring a period dish to share as well as any picnicking accoutrements (blankets, chairs, plates, utensils, cups, etc.) their party requires.  The RSV will be providing beverages and outdoor games for the event.  As is typical for the majority of our events, period attire will be admired but is not required!

Be sure to register by Monday, August 15 by registering through the picnic event site!  (Members, don't forget to log in first in order to access your member discount!)

Due to an increase in the cost of securing a space at the Montpelier Hunt Races, the RSV has decided to switch gears and visit the DAR's exhibition, "An Agreeable Tyrant: Fashion After the Revolution" on November 5 instead.  This exhibit includes both men's and women's clothing from the DAR's collection dated 1785-1825.

We'd love for you to join us in Washington, DC for this event!  There is no charge for admission and period attire is welcome if you care to don it for the visit.  We encourage you to register by November 1 to be included as part of the event.  Registration is quick and easy and will allow you to stay informed of any changes in the event as well as keep abreast of updates.

We're disappointed to announce that the Francis Land House has decided to cancel their "Tea with the Lands" on June 19.  However, since we had volunteers ready to join us out there, we thought we'd take another stab at having a picnic at this lovely c. 1805 home!

If you're interested in joining us for a picnic that day, please register through the event listing.  We're asking folks to bring a period dish to pass and picnicking accoutrements for you party.  The RSV will provide drinks and games for the out of doors.  If there is enough interest, we could even get a discounted rate on tours of the house!  As ever, period attire is encouraged but not required.

Please register for any events you are interested in assisting with as soon as possible so that we can plan accordingly!

Jane Austen's novel Lady Susan has been adapted for the big screen and we are anticipating with great pleasure the theatrical release of "Love and Friendship."

We are hoping to host a costumed rendezvous of Janeites at Criterion Cinemas at MovieLand in Richmond the Saturday after it is released there, May 28.  Stay tuned for further details and for the opportunity to assist us in recruiting more Regency-philes!

For those members and friends who are heading to AshLawn-Highland's Girl Scout Day on May 7 or the Louisville, Kentucky, Jane Austen Festival (July 15-17), please be aware that there are other events going on during those weekends in those areas that are making hotel reservations more difficult to come by.  We encourage you to make any necessary reservations as soon as possible to avoid not having a place to stay!
