We were so delighted with the turnout for our Twelfth Night dinner despite its having to be moved.  Our members and friends enjoyed a great deal of conversation, dancing--led by the most capable Mr. Charles Steplively, and an excellent meal followed by delicious and beautifully decorated Twelfth Cakes made by RSV member Kim Costa.  The evening concluded with one final dance...none other than a lively rendition of "Sir Roger de Coverley"!  Thank you to everyone who came out and contributed to a most convivial evening.  It was just as a Twelfth Night should be!

The following day, members and friends of the RSV gathered for a meeting that might have seemed as though it was of a more serious nature but was lighthearted in its own way.  Our annual members' meeting was held in Downtown Richmond.  We discussed the direction of the unit as well as upcoming events and event ideas.  Following the business portion of the meeting, attendees took advantage of our swap meet to find new-to-them items.  There were many smiling faces between those delighted with their new acquisitions and those delighted to make more room in their closets!  Be sure to watch our Events page, which will be updated soon to reflect our new calendar!

Don't miss out on a chance to get a first look at our 2018 event lineup and to take part in our now-annual swap meet!  We'll be gathering at the University of Richmond-Downtown campus building (located at 626 E. Broad Street, Suite 100, Richmond, VA)  to discuss the future of the Regency Society of Virginia.  This meeting is free and open to all--members and non-members, alike!  We'll be revealing our plans for the upcoming year (and beyond...can you say "Group trip to the UK in 2019"?) as well as taking suggestions from our membership on how the organization can better serve its members and purposes.  After the conclusion of business, we'll be hosting a swap meet. Bring clothing, accessories, books, fabric--anything with a Regency-period flavor to it!--to sell or trade to those who would truly appreciate them.  If you're new to this hobby (or this era), this is also a great opportunity to get deals on period-appropriate items.  (And for those of you who are attending our rescheduled Twelfth Night dinner, this is a great excuse to hang around the Richmond area afterwards!)

The courtesy of your RSVP is requested for this free event.  Click here to register and get more details.  Hope to see you there!

Because of the postponement, we know that many of our members and friends who were planning on joining us for our originally scheduled Twelfth Night dinner won't be able to be there this upcoming Saturday.  While we are very disappointed to lose their company, the new date may mean that some of you who were unavailable on the 6th actually are available for the 13th!  As such, we have REOPENED registration for our newly scheduled Twelfth (Twentieth?) Night through January 11.  We'll still have all the dancing, gaming, and excellent food and conversation that we were planning on having during the event with which the weather so uncooperatively interfered.  Check out the event listing to get more information and register to join us!  (And, given that our annual meeting will be held the following day in Richmond, consider spending the night in the area so that you can attend the annual meeting, too!)

Due to the poor road conditions near the event site and in many parts of the Commonwealth, the RSV has determined that the best course of action is to postpone our Twelfth Night dinner until the following Saturday, January 13.

If you registered for Twelfth Night and are still able to join us on the 13th, you don't have to do anything else.  If you registered and you cannot make it on the new date, please contact us as soon as possible at info@varegency.org to request a refund.  We will issue one within 30 days.

For those of you who could not make it on the 6th but are available on January 13, we are reopening registration!  Head over to the event listing and register by January 11 to join us for what promises to be a fun evening!

We are keeping a close eye on how travel may be impacted by yesterday's snow storm.  If you have registered for this event, please watch your e-mail, Facebook, text messages, and this website for any updates as to whether we will go forward with Saturday's festivities or postpone them to allow for road conditions to improve to the point where travel is safer.

For the past few years, the RSV has created a "Year in Review" video filled with images from all the events we've done over the past 12 months.  As 2017 marks the fifth anniversary of the RSV, why should it be any different?  The new 2017 video is posted on the Past Events main page for all to see.   We hope that you'll check it out...and see you in 2018!

We have had an overwhelming response to the Theater Evening at the Wells and we're excited that so many people will be joining us for this unique event!  As of December 15, however, we will be closing registration.  If you have not yet purchased tickets and wish to, please make sure that you add your name to the Orchestra Seating waitlist as soon as possible.  Our final ticket purchase will be based upon the numbers on that waitlist and those who have registered will have the first opportunity to purchase their tickets and reserve their spots when spaces become available.

Don't miss your chance!  Be sure to register today by clicking here!

It's getting to be that time of year again.  A time of family and friends, laughter, memories, and memory-making.  And a time when calendars tend to fill up quickly.  As you're making your holiday plans, we hope that you'll make time to celebrate with your friends at the Regency Society of Virginia!  Don't miss our fifth annual Twelfth Night Dinner, taking place once more at the historic Hanover Tavern, on January 6.  Enjoy an evening of period gaming, good food and excellent company as we bring the Christmas season festivities to a close in Regency style.  Your registration includes non-alcoholic beverages, house-made bread, salad, your choice of one of three delicious entrees with two sides, a slice of authentic Twelfth Night cake, and all taxes and gratuities.   Registration is open to members and non-members but closes on January 3.  Click here for more details and to reserve your space at the table today!

Registration for our event at the Wells Theater for the Virginia Stage Company's production of Pride and Prejudice is now open to those who are not members of the RSV.  Tickets have been going fast, however, we do have the option of increasing the number of tickets in our group.  So, if you attempt to register and discover that seats have been sold out, PLEASE JOIN THE WAITLIST.  We will not purchase additional tickets UNLESS we see that there is an interest and adding your name to the waitlist lets us know that you are interested!  Those on the waitlist will be contacted as soon as additional tickets are available.

We're encouraging those attending with us to wear period attire but it is not required.  Regardless of what era's attire you prefer, we hope that we will see you there on January 27!

We are excited to announce a new event: an evening at the historic Wells Theater to watch a stage adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice.  The RSV has reserved a limited number of box seats and several orchestra seats for our members and friends at a rate that is discounted from the usual single-ticket price.  We encourage attendees to dress in period attire for the occasion (though it is not required).

RSV members will have first access to available tickets through November 15, at which point we will open registration up to others.  Even if you aren't able to secure box seats (or if you find that the orchestra seating is sold out), we encourage you to add your name to the ORCHESTRA SEATING WAITLIST.  The Theater has said that we have an option to purchase additional tickets at the discounted rate and we are happy to do so if we have enough interest.  Another advantage to purchasing orchestra tickets: should a box seat become available, we will attempt to fill it by contacting those who have purchased orchestra seats first (in order of registration).  You also have the option of adding yourself to the box seat waitlist, however, we will only contact those on the box seat waitlist after available box seating has been declined by everyone who has committed to being at the performance by purchasing orchestra seats.  You can register and purchase your tickets by clicking here.

UPDATE 10/24/17:  While we only just posted this event last night, we have already sold 16 of our available 18 box seats!  Orchestra seating is still wide open, however, and we would love to see a theater filled with RSVers!
