How do I join an RSV Zoom meeting?
While you don't need to be a member, you DO have to register no later than the day before the meeting in order to take part. To register, go to our Events page and find the date of the Zoom meeting ("QuaranTEA") that you would like to 'attend.' Click on 'Register' and fill in the required information. Once you submit your registration, you should receive a confirmation e-mail indicating that you have registered. (Be sure to check your Spam folder if you don't receive one within a few minutes after completing registration.) Members should log in to the website prior to registering to speed up the registration process and ensure that they do not create duplicate accounts.
Do I need to download anything or register for a Zoom account to participate?
Zoom accounts are free, but you don't need to have one to simply join a Zoom meeting. In order to participate, however, you will be required to download the software to support the application (also free).
What do I do with the QR Code that I got in the registration confirmation e-mail?
Absolutely nothing. Unfortunately, our software automatically generates those codes for every event whether we need them or not. They are completely irrelevant for our Zoom meetings so please ignore them. You will be receiving a later e-mail (on the day of the Zoom meeting) that will have the direct link to the meeting as well as the meeting ID number which ARE necessary to join us.
How do I actually join the meeting itself?
Those who have registered for the QuaranTEA will receive an e-mail (different from your registration confirmation) the day of the scheduled Zoom meeting. That e-mail will contain a direct link to the meeting itself. You should be able to join by simply clicking on the link at the meeting's scheduled start time. If you have trouble getting in using the link, we will also include a "Meeting ID" and password in the e-mail which you can use to find the meeting on Zoom. (Simply enter the Meeting ID in the blank provided on the Zoom Join Meeting page .) For more information, Zoom provides a video tutorial on joining a meeting here.
I forgot to register/didn't receive an e-mail with the direct link in time for tonight's QuaranTEA. Can I still take part?
If you registered, first check your spam folder to make certain that the e-mail is not there. (If you registered but did not receive a confirmation and have nothing from us in your spam folder, you may have entered your e-mail incorrectly. If you have an RSV membership, be sure to log in to the website first to speed up registration and avoid typos!) We are happy to send you a link if you e-mail us at email@example.com after 3PM the day of the Zoom meeting but please be aware that if you e-mail us around the time of the chat, it may be more difficult for our volunteers (who are hosting the meeting) to reply immediately.
I can't see myself/hear myself during the Zoom meeting. Help!
How do I mute myself during a meeting? Do I need to mute myself?
While we don't require anyone to mute themselves during a meeting, we've found it helps to control background noise when participants who are not speaking voluntarily mute themselves. (We want to hear what you have to say, though, so please feel free to speak up at any time!) To mute yourself, click the MUTE button (microphone) in the bottom-left corner of the meeting window. A red slash will appear over the microphone icon indicating that your audio is now off. To unmute yourself and begin talking, simply click the UNMUTE button (microphone) in the same bottom-left corner of the meeting window.
Can I add a virtual background?
